Why service it
Why is regular servicing important?
Just as a car needs regular maintenance, your air conditioner needs servicing. Regular servicing extends the unit’s life by several years and catches faults before they turn into costly repairs.
Dirty filters and a clogged evaporator reduce cooling efficiency, increase energy use and can cause unpleasant odours. Neglected units also harbour bacteria and mould that get blown into the room air.
We recommend a service inspection at least once a year – ideally in spring, before the summer season. For commercial premises with intensive use we recommend twice-yearly checks.
Common issues
The most common air-conditioning faults
The unit won’t switch on
Check the batteries in the remote control and the power supply (the breaker). If everything looks fine and the unit still won’t start, contact a service technician.
The indoor unit smells
Most likely dirty filters or poor condensate drainage. The unit needs cleaning and disinfecting. Regular servicing prevents this issue.
The unit blows air but doesn’t cool
Check that the mode is set correctly (cooling). If it is, the cause may be a low refrigerant charge or a heavily soiled exchanger. Contact a service technician.
Water dripping from the indoor unit
The cause is usually a blocked or damaged condensate drain, or a faulty condensate pump.
The unit trips the breaker
There is an electrical or compressor fault. Don’t keep trying to restart the unit – contact a service technician immediately.
