Air conditioning
The price depends on the unit type (wall-mounted, cassette, multi-split), output and installation complexity. As a guide, a wall-mounted unit for one room starts from CZK 19,890. We confirm the exact price after a free on-site survey.
A standard installation of a single wall-mounted unit takes 4–8 hours. For a multi-split (one outdoor + several indoor units), allow 1–2 days. From order to installation we typically deliver within 5–20 working days, depending on the season.
Yes – modern inverter split units work as air-to-air heat pumps. They heat efficiently down to outdoor temperatures of around −15 °C. The SCOP (seasonal coefficient of performance for heating) of modern units reaches 4–5, meaning that 1 kWh of electricity yields 4–5 kWh of heat.
Premium-brand indoor units such as Panasonic and Hyundai start at 19 dB(A) on the quiet setting – quieter than a ticking clock (around 30 dB). Outdoor units run at around 45–50 dB(A), comparable to a soft conversation.
It depends on the energy class expressed by SEER (cooling) and SCOP (heating). An A+++ unit consumes roughly 0.3–0.8 kWh/h when cooling a room. Annual cooling running costs for a single room come to around CZK 1,500–3,000.
Heat pumps
The most common type is air-to-water, which extracts heat from outdoor air and delivers it to the heating system. There are also ground-to-water pumps (using geothermal boreholes or ground loops) and air-to-air units (essentially air conditioners that also heat). For family homes, air-to-water is the most common choice thanks to easy installation without boreholes.
Payback depends on the heat source you’re replacing. Replacing an electric boiler typically pays back in 5–8 years; replacing a gas boiler in 8–12 years.
Modern air-to-water heat pumps from brands such as Panasonic or NIBE run reliably down to outdoor temperatures of −20 °C and below. The COP (coefficient of performance) at −7 °C is around 2.5–3 – still significantly more efficient than a direct electric boiler.
Heat-recovery ventilation
The unit transfers heat from the outgoing warm indoor air to the incoming fresh air via a special exchanger. The two airflows do not mix. Counter-flow exchangers reach heat-recovery efficiencies of 80–95 %, so pre-warmed fresh air enters the home.
It cuts ventilation heat losses by 80–90 %. In a typical family home that means CZK 5,000–15,000 a year off heating bills compared with ventilating through open windows. The exact saving depends on house size and climate.
Filters are typically replaced every 3–6 months depending on the environment (dust, allergens, proximity to busy roads). A filter set costs around CZK 300–800. Most modern units flag a filter change on the control panel.
Yes – the two systems complement each other. Ventilation supplies fresh, filtered air without heat losses, while air conditioning regulates room temperature. Combining the two delivers optimal air quality and temperature year round.
Underfloor heating
Ceramic tiles and LVT vinyl flooring conduct heat best. Laminate and wood floors work if their thermal resistance is up to 0.15 m²K/W – check the figure on the manufacturer’s packaging. Carpet is not recommended due to its high insulation, which blocks heat transfer.
ČSN EN 1264 sets the maximum surface temperature at 29 °C in living areas and 33 °C in bathrooms. Flow temperature is typically 30–45 °C (versus 60–80 °C for conventional radiators), which is ideal for use with a heat pump.
Yes – it’s the ideal combination. Underfloor heating runs at low water temperatures (35–40 °C), which is where a heat pump achieves its highest efficiency – COPs of 4–5. Compared with a radiator system you save another 10–20 % on running costs.
Service & maintenance
At least once a year; for year-round use (cooling and heating) we recommend twice a year. Regular servicing is a warranty condition for most manufacturers and significantly extends the life of the equipment.
A service includes cleaning filters and the indoor unit, checking and topping up refrigerant, checking electrical connections, measuring output and temperatures and disinfecting the evaporator against mould and bacteria. On the outdoor unit we check the fan and the cleanliness of the heat exchanger.
We cover the South Moravia Region, Prague and the Central Bohemia Region. Site surveys in these regions are completely free and without obligation.
